  I just finished installing solar panels on my roof thanks to Luminalt. I cant recommend Luminalt enough for how detailed, prompt, and attentive they were during the entire process. A little background: I reroofed my house during the summer and was interested in installing solar so I originally contacted SunPower to quote after searching online since SunPower was considered #1. After my consultation with SunPower it left much to be desired as the consultant was hesitant to give information on how the panels were mounted on the roof. He cited the workers were too busy to provide details but once I pressed further I found out they mount the panels on the roof onto studs via screws them used a chemlink sealant on top. I checked with my roofer as they were providing me a 30 year warranty on their work and they mentioned they saw instances that over time water would seep under the chemlink sealant and inevitably cause leaks in the roof. SunPower's warranty on construction was only 10 years and when I tried to get some kind of assurance he bluntly said "well you need to think about the importance of saving money on solar due to the rising cost of electricity". Wow... thanks... any savings I would get would be negated due to my roof needing repair 20 years earlier than necessary. SunPower basically contracts out their construction to others so they dont necessarily do it themselves, other companies do it for them.

  I've been around the solar business for a while, so I was aware that Luminalt was well-respected. I first met someone from Luminalt when I took a class at PG&E. The Luminalt person was the expert PG&E brought in to discuss working with legacy household infrastructure. When the city inspector shows up, sees the crew, and says, "Oh, you guys again. This will be quick and easy," you know you picked the right company.

  We engaged Luminalt to install solar panels on our roof. Their people arrived promptly, were extremely polite and very careful in their work. They rank among the best contractors we have ever had working on our house. I recommend them highly.

  This was the most professional home improvement operation I have ever experienced. I wish everyone was this reliable and efficient! They completed their job substantially in advance of estimate, were extremely communicative, product works well, and their various teams (sales, planning, construction and operations) were seamless in their coordination. I HIGHLY recommend using Luminalt, and for all our sakes, get solar!

  I'm a bit late in writing this review, but I went with Luminalt for a Tesla Powerwall installation and had a very good experience. Things were frustrating at first because acquiring the Powerwall from Tesla took forever, but once the unit arrived the actual work happened smoothly and it's worked exactly as advertised. Also extra props for a year or so later when I had an electrical issue that we thought might be related to their installation they visited immediately to check and it turned out their work was not involved and they didn't even charge me for the extra emergency visit.

  I have to say I was skeptical that Luminalt had such excellent reviews, could they really be that great? My husband and I searched around and yes, we could have gone the cheaper route but I knew if something went wrong after the installation, I wanted to be able to have someone to call that could come out and fix it.

  Just got a new system installed. Very professional experience all throughout + the installation crew was incredibly helpful & attentive to details once on-site (Pam & crew). The system looks great. Very happy. Big fan!

  I never even went as far as a consultation, but I really appreciate how honest they were. After I sent them info on my PGE usage, Luminalt told me that my financial return on investment wasn't worth it for me to get solar. I literally have a Tesla solar roof project for over a year and they can't get it started and they couldn't tell me that. Any other company would want me to pay up. Whenever it appropriate for me to start a solar project, I'll definitely call Luminalt up for their honest business practices.

  Checking out solar companies, I had already talked to two other installers with impressive charts and photos, but something was missing so I called Luminalt. What a difference honesty makes. I told the receptionist the basis of my call including my average PGE bill and house size. The receptionist told me in an instant that I did not need solar but if I added a hot tub and EV car to call back. I then asked if Luminalt had a Portland OR branch. "No, but the president just got back from Portland and she's standing ridge here. Would you like to talk to her?" asked the receptionist. So I talked with the president for about 5 min and found out her father/mentor was who she was visiting and he would know because "he researches everything". She also has realatives the my same as my family name.

  Customer service and technological expertise shine at Luminalt. Friends in Oakland raved about Noel Cotter and Luminalt, so we called them when our solar system malfunctioned. We first installed a solar PV system on our SF home in 1997 and upgraded to a bigger system in 2002. In 2009 a fuse blew in a breaker and the large East Bay solar company that installed our system blew us off. Another solar company in SF's Sunset district helped us out by replacing the breaker. Same thing happened in 2011. Again, the SF company helped us. But when the same thing happened in 2015, they didn't return our call. So we called Luminalt, who responded quickly. Noel not only got our solar running again but he's the only one who explained WHY this was happening, not just what was happening. This was not normal. A blown fuse should be a very rare occurrence -- I don't want anyone reading this to think that maintenance is a problem with solar systems. It's not! But if something does go wrong, I want someone like Noel on the job who can explain what to do for a permanent fix. If we ever need new equipment or service, I'm calling Luminalt.

  I had started down the solar road with one of the big companies that does a lot of promotion. They didn't do anything 'wrong', per se, but there was so much hype and constant selling that it made me nervous. Then I compared their reviews to Luminalts and had the Luminalt people give me a quote. They were a little more expensive, but for an investment of this kind over many years it seemed a small amount of money compared to feeling like I was getting straight answers. I just threw the switch on my new solar setup yesterday and every step of the way with Luminalt was a pleasure--they are very direct, on time, competent and all those good things.   One of the very best contractors we've ever dealt with. The whole company has amazing customer service, from the guy who came out to discuss all of the options available (he worked up several different detailed proposals so we could make an informed decision), to the office staff who scheduled meetings and installation dates. The crew that did the installation was friendly and punctual, and got the whole job done in a couple of days. The founder of the company came out to meet with the city inspectors. He has been working in solar and alternative energy all over the world since the '80s, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Can't recommend them highly enough. They deserve all of their five star reviews.

  Well, Luminalt just finished installing a 5.25kW system on my roof. They have been super easy to work with, everything happened as they said they would, very straightforward team, great work, easy process etc. Highly recommend them!

  Noel Cotter and his crew installed a PV system on my roof seven years ago. They didn't just put it up and walk away. Luminalt has stayed in contact. If I have a problem, they come by to fix it. If I don't have a problem they'll come by to check things over. Luminalt is not simply selling solar equipment; Luminalt wants to make solar work. It is morally committed to sustainable energy.

  Luminalt came through and Noel took the time to come to Redwood City to help us out. After looking through documentation and PG&E bills he did an extremely thorough inspection. While nothing was wrong with the system, he used his expert knowledge to analyse the efficiency of our installation, explaining and pointing out how we could increase our production by 6% or more. His suggestions were all backed up by solid data that he produced on the spot. We will certainly follow his recommendations. It was educational, helpful, professional and very much appreciated.

  Luminalt has installed 5 solar photovoltaic systems on 3 of my San Francisco apartment buildings. I am now supplying "house" electric for 45 apartments. The installs were terrific - from meeting with Nelson to plan and cost to dealing with each of the installs. The technicians were excellent and did what they said when they said and cleaned up after. There were no complaints from any of my tenants and they like living in a "green" building that also has thermal hot water. I have the upmost respect for the company and the bonus is that they are a San Francisco based firm.

  We really researched to find the right design and installation company for the solar system on our house and from the first meeting to the completion we have nothing but rave reviews. The engineers, installers, and support staff are competant, communicative and professional. Hey, go solar folks and make sure you let Luminalt, a San Francisco based company, give you a bid. We are so very happy to have chosen them to do our project. With the city and state tax incentives and federal tax credits it's a great time to lower you carbon footprint!
